The team is more than just the players

Travel Baseball requires dedication from the player.

Travel Baseball also requires a lot of dedication from the player's family.

Visions Baseball builds teamwork and team spirit across the whole organization. Travel ball means a lot of time sitting on the sidelines, a lot of time traveling, and a lot of time eating away from home. We prioritize opportunities for families to meet and get to know each other because the time-consuming nature of travel baseball can be eased with help from team families, especially with transportation. Tournaments show off our family spirit--we gather to share a meal, to celebrate successes, and to cheer on all our players--when your team isn't on the field, you'll be on the sidelines cheering on another Visions team.

There are roles for everyone (including players)--planning hang outs, making sandwiches or barbecue to share, bringing water, grabbing extra ice, picking up fruit and snacks, coordinating hotels, offering rides,... It takes a village to make these teams successful. Our players learn responsibility during these long weekends including their responsibility to the community that supports them.

Practices

Attending practices is vital to the success of the team.
On the days when your player can't make it to practice, they need to let the coaches know as soon as they can. Teach your player to communicate with the coach in the Band app.

Coaches are working on securing additional practice fields. The Band app is where Coaches will share field info, weather cancellations, etc.

Tournaments

Most tournaments are Friday to Sunday. Coaches will put out summer schedules in early Spring, but these are likely to change (due to the tournament itself and outside of the VSB coach's control). It's generally best to assume Thursday to late Sunday for most summer tournaments.

Travel

Each age group will need a volunteer hotel coordinator to book blocks of rooms for our teams. Some tournaments require players to stay at a designated hotel (and can be strict enough to say that a player who doesn't stay in the hotel doesn't play), but most are flexible. Staying in the team hotel is a chance for families to relax together, but some families opt to commute, stay with relatives, or rent a home.

GEAR

Each VSB player will receive a gear bag and uniforms. The player must bring their own gloves, mitt, bats, catcher's gear, and cleats. Most players also choose to be stylish with sunglasses, arm sleeves, and whatever the latest fad is.

For tournaments, there are usually several families with tents, so not every family needs their own. Bring chairs or a blanket to sit on, plenty of water, a cooler, snacks, sunscreen and bug spray, and something to entertain yourself or younger children with during the warm ups and breaks. The beauty of the Visions family is that if you forget something, someone has extra to share!
